About Pro/E or Creo Designing Software

Pro/ENGINEER

About Software:-

PTC Creo, formerly known as Pro/ENGINEER is a parametric, integrated 3D CAD/CAM/CAE solution created by Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC). It was the first to market with parametric, feature-based, associative solid modelling software. ... Creo is a suite of applications and not simply a new name of Pro/Engineer.
It was the first to market with parametric, feature-based, associative solid modelling software. The application runs on Microsoft Windows platform and provides solid modelling, assembly modelling and drafting, finite element analysis, direct and parametric modelling, sub-divisional and NURBS surfacing, and NC and tooling functionality for mechanical engineers. It features a suite of 10 applications which work within the same program.
Basically, a business strategy to capture more market share by introducing a Ribbon interface like Microsoft Office & adding direct or explicit modelling, a different concept altogether. This was a great initiative by James Heppelmann, President and CEO, PTC.

New name of Pro/Engineer:-

  • Pro/E WF4 -> Creo Parametric
  • CoCreate -> Creo Direct
  • Product View -> Creo View

Applications & PTC Creo Products:-

  • PTC Creo Parametric
  • PTC Creo Direct
  • PTC Creo Simulate
  • PTC Creo Illustrate
  • PTC Creo Schematics
  • PTC Creo View MCAD
  • PTC Creo View ECAD
  • PTC Creo Sketch
  • PTC Creo Layout
  • PTC Creo Options Modeler

Use of Pro/ENGINEER:-

Shankar, literally you can do almost anything mechanical or electrical in Pro/ENGINEER. The software is used in every major manufacturing and engineering industry. The suite of tools offered with Creo grows every day. No one will be able to list all the possibilities.
To quote from the fine cinematic masterpiece "Blades of Glory"... "if you can dream it... you can do it!"
Your career potential in Pro/ENGINEER is nearly limitless. Creo isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Despite the various rumours that are occasionally floated by PTC's competitors, the company is strong and the product line is stable. You can make a very nice living using these software tools. PTC's products are very powerful but they can be a little hard to learn. Experienced, trained users who understand the idiosyncrasies of the tools and how to use them to maximum benefit are ALWAYS needed.
